The Seaford School District announced the transition to electronic ticketing for all sporting events beginning with the winter scheduling. Jason Cameron, Director of Human Resources cited several reasons for the School Board to approve electronic ticketing. Electronic tickets were used by Seaford and effective for the 2022 Boys’ Basketball home playoff games played in Seaford.
The DIAA transitioned to e-ticketing several years ago for all play-off events therefore may be familiar to many fans. Seaford’s Jason Cameron said in a statement, “This was not a decision that was taken lightly knowing it will cause some inconvenience. However, safety and security of our student athletes and spectators is the number one concern and we feel going to the e-ticket system improves the safety for everyone attending games and matches.” Mr. Cameron noted that many other schools throughout the state have already moved the e-ticket platform and will use the same ticketing service that DIAA utilizes.
The district also said the change will allow a more accurate tallying of fan attending events and can be monitored and controlled. Mr. Cameron said, “Many school districts, including Seaford, had issues at football games this fall and in addition to e-ticketing this winter other protocols are being put into place.”
The cost to enter Varsity/JV events is $5.00 for general admission and Senior Citizen is $3.00. The website for tickets is https:gofan.co/app/school/DE22636 is also posted on the schedule at WebSite4 Sports. Tickets must be purchased prior to 11:59am the day of the game or Friday 4:00pm for a Saturday game. Tickets will not be sold at the gate and gates open 45 minutes prior to the start of the event. In addition to the normal district and DIAA rules, new guidelines include no re-entry at any time, no bags or fanny packs, no outside food or drinks, and no full face masks.
Concessions, if available, will be in the lobby and the district will have an area to enjoy the drinks and food but request no food or drink be taken into the gymnasium.
The e-ticketing will begin January 3, 2023 when the Seaford High Boys’ Basketball Team takes on Early College in their first home event. The Saturday event against Middletown will also go on sale prior to event and end on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 4:00pm.
